Classic Frank Weber Course
Course was actually designed by Frank Weber a member of Inverness and local course designer. It is one of his best courses with Tamarin being the other course that he designed that is very good - but sadly closed.
HIghland Meadows has a wonderful site with 10 mile creek flowing through the property and provides Great land movement. The creek was used superbly by Weber to create several memorable tee shots and great holes like 9, 17, and 18.
The strength of Highland Meadows is the great walkable routing and old 1920s greens with only the 9th having been redone.
Classic and tree-lined midwest private club
I was able to get in 10 holes here before getting rained out during the LPGA Pro-Am. This is a classic and narrow layout not far from Inverness. The greens are generally small and the par 3s were tough to hit. Compared to Inverness nearby, Highland Meadows is certainly over-treed and corridors are narrow. It does put a premium on accuracy however (something the LPGA's best doesn't need to worry about as much as sloppier amateurs). The finish is cool, with a brawny par 5 followed by a short par 3 and tactical par 4. Our LPGA pro, Ssu-Chia Cheng, holed out with a wedge on 18. Pretty awesome to witness!
